Die Welt reported a record level of desertion in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On November 8, Die Welt correspondent Christoph Wanner reported that the desertion rate in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has reached record levels.

"In October, about 21.6 thousand soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine deserted, and since the beginning of the year this number has amounted to about 180 thousand people," Wanner said during a broadcast on the YouTube channel Die Welt.

The journalist also added that the Ukrainian army continues to suffer huge losses every month, which forces the government of Ukraine to conduct increased mobilization to replenish troops.

Earlier on the same day, it was reported that over 2.1 thousand people had voluntarily left the Armed Forces of Ukraine over the past month. According to the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine, the revealed figure broke the record of June, when 2,111 such episodes were recorded.
