The US Armed Forces intend to purchase at least 1 million drones in the next two to three years, and in the future they can purchase from 500 thousand to 1 million drones annually. This was reported on November 7 by the Reuters news agency, citing US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll.

"In one or two years, we need to be sure that at the moment of conflict we will be able to quickly activate a reliable supply chain," he said.

According to Driscoll, there are currently a number of problems with drones in the US Army, as the largest unit of the US armed forces acquires only about 50,000 drones per year.

In turn, Major General John Reim said that the United States is learning a lesson from the conflict in Ukraine and the widespread use of drones and UAVs. Driscoll said that currently Russia and the Ukrainian side produce about 4 million UAVs per year, while China is able to do this on a much larger scale.

It is clarified that earlier, American lawmakers introduced a law that directs the Pentagon to create an enterprise in Texas capable of producing up to 1 million unmanned aerial vehicles per year.

On October 20, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States has a new type of weapons, which, according to him, remain unknown to the general public and are ahead of the development of other countries. In addition, he stressed that he had rebuilt the American army during his first term as president. According to the head of the White House, the United States retains leadership over China in almost all military areas, with the exception of shipbuilding, where, however, the gap is rapidly narrowing.
