One person died as a result of an avalanche in Kamchatka

An avalanche descended on the territory of the Aginsky gold deposit in Kamchatka on Saturday evening, local time, one person died, the fate of another is unknown. This was announced on November 8 by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Kamchatka Territory.

"According to preliminary data, in the evening of November 8 of this year, an avalanche occurred on the territory of the Aginsky deposit located in the Bystrinsky district. As a result, a 39-year-old engineer of a drilling rig of a contracting organization was killed, the location of his 29—year-old assistant has not yet been established," the agency said in a Telegram channel message.

An avalanche carried away a drilling rig containing two men from the site to a distance of about 70 m, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office reports the details of the incident.

The emergency services who arrived at the scene removed the body of the deceased from under the rubble, the 29-year-old man has not yet been found.

An inspection is underway, investigators are clarifying the circumstances of the incident, and an assessment will be made of compliance with the requirements of labor protection and industrial safety legislation.
