Sobyanin spoke about the participation of Muscovites in the All-Russian School Olympiad

Every third student of Moscow schools participates in the All—Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren - this is more than 500 thousand children and teenagers. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

He pointed out that the number of Olympic awards that the Moscow national team receives is constantly increasing. "At the end of last season, a record was set — 1,863 diplomas. This is 40% more than a year ago," Sobyanin wrote on his channel in the MAX. — The winners and prize-winners were from every second school in the capital. For comparison, in 2010, Muscovites won only 278 diplomas, while students from only 74 schools received awards."

The mayor explained the success of the capital's team by the effectiveness of "a unique system for training Olympic athletes built in Moscow." According to him, the best coaches work with the guys: school teachers, university professors and students from leading universities who have won national and international Olympiads.

"All the possibilities of the city are used for the Olympiads: the students attend lectures and seminars, meet with scientists and experts, solve practical tasks and develop their own projects," Sobyanin said, adding that, for example, the physics and biology teams are engaged at Moscow State University, the labor team at RUDN University, and the law team at MGIMO.

Some participants demonstrate excellent knowledge and win in several disciplines of the Olympiad at once. Among them, the mayor named Tikhon Pulyaev, an eleventh-grader from gymnasium No. 1543 named after Yu.V. Zavelsky, who "repeatedly became the best in geography and won the MHC competition last academic year." "And Mikhail Sakmarov, a tenth—grader from school No. 1770, is a prize—winner in social studies, but now he plans to be the first in history, art and ecology," Sobyanin added.
