- The Vice Consul of the Russian Federation announced that a vessel with Russians had been towed off the coast of Japan.
The NEKSU vessel with Russian citizens, which had previously been drifting off the coast of Japan, was taken in tow by a Coast Guard ship. This was announced on November 8 by Alexey Krivoruchko, Vice Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Niigata.
"Last night, NEKSU was taken in tow by a patrol ship of the Japan Maritime Safety Administration. Today at noon (6.00 Moscow time) near the port of Toyama, the ship will be handed over to a civilian tugboat," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The Vice Consul clarified that after that the ship will be delivered for repairs. According to the Japanese side, the crew is in good condition and is not in any danger. Krivoruchko noted that the Russian Consulate General in Niigata continues to monitor the situation and is in contact with the Japanese authorities.
The day before, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported that the Seabridge vessel was unable to disembark passengers in Sochi due to the lack of permission to enter Russia. He performed the first flight on the Trabzon – Sochi route in 14 years. The ferry arrived in Sochi around 10:00. However, the Russian side did not accept the vessel because it did not have permission to enter the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, and the port of Sochi was closed for exercises until 12:00. Later, on November 7, the ship nevertheless received permission to enter the port of Sochi.
In addition, one of the passengers of the ship said that the ferry is being checked in Sochi. Another passenger noted that the bottom of the vessel had been checked by divers. As a result, some people who are on board the ship have "burned out" flights to some cities of the Russian Federation.
