- The political scientist pointed out the EU's attempts to harm Russia contrary to the opinion of its population.
The European Union (EU) is seeking to harm Russia despite the opinion of its population, as it is being defeated in the Ukrainian conflict. This opinion was shared with Izvestia on November 7 by German political scientist Eike Hamer.
"They (the EU - Ed.) want to harm Russia in some way. They have lost or will lose in Ukraine," he said.
The political scientist stressed that many of the measures taken by European politicians run counter to established norms due to "political panic."
According to him, the association is also "very actively involved, especially financially, in Ukraine" and, realizing the failures, is trying to compensate for them with anti-Russian measures.
The political scientist pointed out that such a policy leads to restrictions on the rights of the Europeans themselves.
"Even European citizens are increasingly being deprived of their fundamental rights. We live in very turbulent times," he said.
On November 7, the European Commission (EC) announced a ban on issuing new multiple-entry visas to citizens of the Russian Federation. It was clarified that now, in order to visit the European Union (EU), Russians will have to apply to the visa application center every time.
Later, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on the ban on issuing multiple-entry visas to Russians. She added that Europe apparently does not need solvent tourists when there are migrants and tax evaders from Ukraine.
