Automation of routine processes is increasingly being considered by companies as a way to increase employee efficiency and reduce internal costs. Alexander Suleikin, Candidate of Technical Sciences, entrepreneur, associate professor, architect of Big Data systems and AI solutions, told Izvestia on November 10 about how realistic it is to reduce costs and increase profits through the introduction of artificial intelligence.

"It is important to separate the concepts of "automation" and "using AI" here — automation can be without the use of artificial intelligence. At the same time, if it is possible to achieve good automation of the process without using AI, it will usually be cheaper, more reliable and less risky for business. The introduction of AI, especially generative AI, is associated with a number of challenges, from high quality requirements to serious equipment costs or payment for tokens," the expert said.

With large-scale projects, when it comes to tens of thousands of requests to the generative model per month, the probability of achieving economic benefits increases. The entrepreneur clarified that in practice, projects with dozens or hundreds of users performing hundreds of thousands of routine operations show a noticeable payback. The return on investment is achieved in one to two years, which is a fairly fast period. He stressed that employee training is critical for correct work with AI and effective implementation.

The expert added that when implementing automation with AI elements, it is important to take into account not only direct financial indicators, but also indirect benefits: accelerating product launch, reducing errors and improving the quality of customer service. These factors shape the company's long-term competitiveness and influence its sustainability in a rapidly changing economy.

"The economic impact of the introduction of AI and automation largely depends on the industry. In the banking and service sectors, AI—based solutions can process huge amounts of data and reduce transaction costs, while in industry they can optimize supply chains and predict equipment maintenance," Suleikin added.

He concluded that proper integration of technologies with a proper assessment of risks and expectations can not only reduce costs, but also become a source of additional profit.

On November 7, MWS AI informed Izvestia that Russian companies had begun to form AI transformation offices, departments for implementing neural network-based products into various processes. Organizations are massively looking for managers who will be able to launch and scale initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence, automate routine processes and improve the efficiency of departments.
