The exercises based on the war scenario with Russia that took place earlier in Europe can be explained by the ongoing escalation. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, expressed this opinion on Friday, November 7.

Earlier it became known that the relevant exercises, which were attended by European defense ministers and generals, were held in Norway.

According to Kolesnik, this is not the first time such exercises have been held in Norway — they were held in the port of Stavanger during the Soviet Union and in the early 90s.

He added that this is already the level of the exercises, which should be given special attention.

"That is, Europe is preparing for war. We are ready to nip in the bud any outbreak of aggression against the Russian Federation. We will study these exercises carefully, the intentions will be clear from their tactics, and then we will decide which types of counteraction to use," the parliamentarian concluded in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Kolesnik said on October 10 that Russia was already reeling from NATO exercises. He noted that if any situation that is fundamentally dangerous for Russia suddenly occurs, then no deterrence will stop the Russian Federation.

Earlier that day, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Mark Rutte, said that NATO countries would hold their annual nuclear military exercises on October 13, RT reports. He stressed that these exercises are an important demonstration of the alliance's nuclear deterrent potential and show NATO's readiness to defend itself.
