The number of crimes decreased in the Pskov region

In the Pskov region, about 5,000 crimes were recorded in the first quarter of 2025. This is 25% less than in the same period of 2024.

In the North-Western Federal District, the indicator decreased by 11%, the Pskov News Feed writes, citing Alexey Ovsyannikov, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

He also noted the continued trend of reducing serious and especially serious crimes by 5.5%. There have been fewer murders and attempted murders, intentional infliction of serious harm to health, robberies and rapes.

The number of thefts of other people's property decreased by 8%, apartment thefts decreased by almost 19%. The number of vehicle thefts has stopped growing. The number of crimes in public places decreased by 3.1%, and on the streets — by 20.4%. Activity on suppression of criminal encroachments in the economy remains at a high level.

Ovsyannikov clarified that persons who had previously committed crimes were 18.5% less likely to violate the law. In his opinion, this is the result of targeted preventive work.

At the end of October, it was reported that interim police statistics indicate problems with juvenile delinquency. Minors have become more likely to commit crimes themselves, but more offenses are recorded against them. And although a significant part of the attacks on children occur online, there are still a lot of troubles and tragedies that happen on the so-called accounts.
