- The carrier answered the question about compensation to passengers for the delay of the Sea Bridge
Passengers of the Sea Bridge ferry, which has been waiting two days for permission to enter the port of Sochi, will be able to receive free tickets for the return trip to Trabzon, Turkey, as compensation. This was announced on November 7 by Sergey Turkmenyan, CEO of the SVS Shipping company, which organized the flight.
"I can only promise one thing: that to all the passengers who came on this ship today, I am ready to provide them with free return tickets once to compensate for their moral damage," he said, answering journalists' questions.
Turkmenyan stressed that the passengers were provided with food and comfortable accommodation in the cabins at the expense of the carrier company. He also noted that the flight delay was not the fault of the organizers, as both the Sochi port and the ferry itself were ready to enter the territory of the Russian Federation.
In addition, the head of SVS Shipping denied reports that there were convoys of cargo trucks intended for transportation on board the ship. Turkmenyan called this information speculation and assured that the carrier company had never planned such actions. According to him, the organizers provided all the necessary documents for confirmation.
"We have provided all the relevant documents and confirmation of our words. We are ready to provide them to any authorized persons, where there are signatures of all control services in the port of Sochi, including the administration of the region," he concluded.
The day before, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported that the Sea Bridge was unable to disembark passengers in Sochi due to the lack of permission to enter Russia. He performed the first flight on the Trabzon-Sochi route in 14 years. The ferry arrived in Sochi around 10:00. However, the Russian side did not accept the vessel because it did not have permission to enter the territorial waters of the Russian Federation, and the port of Sochi was closed for exercises until 12:00.
The association also clarified that the problems with the permit began during the ferry's test flight, and the situation was not resolved until today.
Later, on November 7, the ship nevertheless received permission to enter the port of Sochi. At the same time, Turkmenyan announced that the ship would depart in the opposite direction today at 20:00 Moscow time. There were 20 passengers on board: 18 Russians and two Turkish citizens.
