- The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation organizes inspections of purchases of medicines for kidneys
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has instructed to organize checks on the implementation of legislation in the procurement of medicines for citizens suffering from kidney disease after the publication of Izvestia about the existing problem. The advisory statement was published on the agency's website on November 7.
"In connection with media reports about the late provision of medicines to patients with kidney diseases in several regions of the country, Roszdravnadzor will check the organization of medical care for patients in these regions," the statement said.
According to the agency, the staff of the prosecutor's office will assess the effectiveness of the competent authorities, as well as healthcare institutions.
It is planned to involve the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Roszdravnadzor in the inspections. The departments will be involved in estimating the volume of production and turnover of the designated drugs.
Earlier, on October 28, it was reported that scientists at Sechenov University, together with Vimpelcom, created a system based on artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze dystrophic changes in kidney tissue. The algorithm helps pathologists to accurately determine the degree of malignancy of kidney tumors. It was noted that AI, unlike the subjective visual assessment according to the WHO/ISUP classification, automatically classifies each cell on the slice. The model is already integrated into digital analysis software and is ready for use in clinical practice, providing doctors with quantitative metrics instead of subjective assessments.
