Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated veterans and residents of the capital on the 84th anniversary of the military parade on Red Square.

As the mayor noted, "November 7, 1941, has forever entered the annals of the Great Victory." "On that frosty, snowy morning, 28,000 Red Army soldiers marched in front of the Kremlin walls," the mayor recalled in his channel in the MAX. "The military parade had a huge impact on the morale of our people and instilled strong confidence that the enemy would be defeated."

The heroism and steadfastness of the defenders of the Motherland will not be forgotten, Sobyanin promised. It was with the defeat of the fascists near Moscow that the victorious road to Berlin began, he recalled.

According to Sobyanin, this sacred memory is passed down from generation to generation. "Today, Muscovites and guests of the capital are once again invited to the unique open—air museum on Red Square," he said. "The large—scale exhibition dedicated to Moscow's military and labor feats during the war is imbued with gratitude to the creators of Victory, respect for our heroic history and love for the Fatherland."

In September, Sobyanin signed an order on payments to veterans on the anniversary of the Battle of Moscow on the occasion of the 84th anniversary of the beginning of the Soviet counteroffensive. The amount of one-time financial assistance amounted to 40 thousand rubles.

Traditionally, disabled people and participants of the Great Patriotic War, participants in the defense of Moscow, including those awarded the medal "For the Defense of Moscow", as well as residents of the capital who participated in the construction of defensive lines and worked in the city from July 1941 to January 1942, will receive support.
