Residents of Kamchatka gave more than 500 million rubles to fraudsters

Since the beginning of 2025, residents of the Kamchatka Territory have lost more than 500 million rubles due to fraud. This is reported by the KamchatkaMedia news agency with reference to the prosecutor's office of the region.

Scammers used various schemes to deceive citizens. For example, fraudsters communicated with a 70-year-old resident of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on behalf of the Central Bank. They convinced the pensioner to transfer more than 6 million rubles to a "secure" account.

The scammers communicated with another pensioner, posing as employees of Rosfinmonitoring and the FSB. The woman gave 3.3 million rubles to the courier.

In September alone, residents of Kamchatka gave 95 million rubles to fraudsters. The staff of the prosecutor's office reminds that it is not necessary to discuss finances with strangers on the phone. Official employees of the departments do not request information about the amount of savings and do not ask to transfer money to any accounts.
