After the opening of the Nuclear Medicine Center in Kommunarka last year, patients received access to the most modern technologies in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

So, according to him, the center is equipped with a unique complex of three linear accelerators for performing ultra-precise remote 3D, 4D radiation therapy. There is a diagnostic unit with CT and MRI machines, as well as units for close-focus radiotherapy and brachytherapy (this is a method of radiation therapy using a radioactive source that is applied to the tumor).

The radionuclide therapy department has equipped an isolated block of special wards for patients who are receiving treatment with radioactive drugs.

During the treatment of patients, a multidisciplinary team of specialists leads: radiologists, radiotherapists, radiologists, oncologists. If necessary, they are joined by other specialists.

The building covers an area of almost 13 thousand square meters. It is built using energy-efficient materials and technologies. The center has thought out medical logistics — optimal routes for patients and medical staff to carry out all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The Nuclear Medicine Center is connected to outpatient and children's buildings with the help of warm above-ground walkways. During the year, about 3 thousand patients received treatment here, more than 5 thousand underwent high-precision radioisotope diagnostics.
