The most famous wooden boy "Pinocchio" turned 90 years old
Today, on November 7, Pinocchio celebrates its 90th anniversary. Readers saw the first chapters about the adventures of the hero back in 1935, and soon the famous Soviet Union film was released, the songs from which are still being sung. Already in January, they will sound in a modern way: a new film is being prepared for release on big screens, created with the participation of the National Media Group (NMG).
It all started with a newspaper strip 90 years ago. Pionerskaya Pravda told about the birth of a wooden boy with a long nose. The ink had not yet dried, and Carlo's literary dad, writer Alexei Tolstoy, took up the script for the first feature film "The Golden Key".
"The first Pinocchio, the main character of the film directed by Alexander Ptushko, was born eighty—seven years ago, and after filming he moved into the apartment of the director of the puppet theater Sergei Obraztsov, where he remains today," the Izvestia correspondent reported.
The chief curator has his own key: only he is entrusted with carefully removing from the sideboard the very doll whose image was first seen and loved by millions.
"Her arms and legs bend in the same place where they bend in humans. She can move quite convincingly," said Gordiy Saltykov, chief curator of the Museum of the State Academic Central Puppet Theater.
From the very first steps, Pinocchio showed that, although he was made of wood, he was a living man.
"This main character in the theater, although a representative of the second generation, does not age over the years, as well as the main life values — love and friendship," the journalist noted.
In the country's main puppet theater, actors with puppets have been balancing in wooden sets for half a century, telling a story about good and evil, their eternal struggle.
"You see, how can you not love such a boy? Moreover, you see, he is not handsome, he has a long nose, bulging eyes, and he is loved," added Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Lyubov Now.
For ninety years, the wooden boy has become the most recognizable character, whose name is put together by syllables for several generations only after hearing the melody.
"There really was some kind of fairy tale born inside it, some kind of amazing atmosphere, including because of Rybnikov's amazing music," says actor and director Dmitry Iosifov.
A favorite fairy tale based on the work of Alexei Tolstoy has now become younger and is being released on a wide screen. Thanks to the director's arrangements, the new project of the National Media Group (NMG) has retained the old motif and acquired a new sound.
"These are eternal values that are broadcast to us by great authors, great people who have understood something and are bringing it to the audience," said Igor Voloshin, director of the film Pinocchio.
A wooden boy with a hairstyle like director Voloshin's was created using computer graphics. To make the painted hero come to life, the authors used a special motion capture technology.
"It requires attention, ingenuity, and an approach. Something that had to be thought through to the smallest detail to make it convincing," said Alexander Prigorny, supervisor of computer graphics for the film Pinocchio.
Sensors and cameras recorded the movements and facial expressions of actress Vita Kornienko during filming. Then they were digitized and animated so that the hero turned out to be computer-generated, but alive.
"He has my facial expressions, my motor skills, my movements, my voice, my speech. He even has my dimples. He also sneezes — even in the trailer there is: he sneezes just like me," said the actress, performer of the role of Pinocchio Vitaly Kornienko.
The music for the new fairy tale film was again composed by composer Alexey Rybnikov, preserving the old hits and adding new ones. Now everyone is singing and dancing in the movie Pinocchio. The bright decorations create a magical world where the action takes place underwater, in a fabulous city, and in a fictional Land of Fools. Famous Russian artists in complex makeup and expressive costumes are sometimes difficult to recognize.
"This is a dedication to Etushu. If you remember, he had such eyebrows," said actor, director and producer, performer of the role of Karabas-Barabas Fyodor Bondarchuk.
The film "Pinocchio" has everything to see an old story about the main human values in a new way. The adventures of the wooden boy is a kind fairy tale for the whole family, which will be released in cinemas on January 1.
Earlier, on October 31, it was reported that the topic of the extracurricular activity within the framework of the project "Talking about important things" on November 1 was inclusivity and the need to show respect to another person. It was noted that the materials from the new film "Pinocchio" helped the teachers in this. Even before the project was released, students were among the first to see scenes that show the importance of mutual respect, understanding, kindness, empathy and empathy.
