Belgian Liege Airport suspended operations due to UAV detection
The Belgian airport of Liege has suspended operations due to the detection of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the airspace. This was reported on October 7 by the Belgian newspaper De Morgen.
According to the newspaper, this is the third time in a week that the Belgian authorities have been forced to suspend airport operations due to the detection of a drone in the air. It is clarified that for security reasons, flights at Liege Airport were also canceled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
The publication notes that drones have recently been spotted near military bases and airports in several European countries.
The day before, the operation of the Brussels airport was suspended for half an hour due to an unknown drone. A Skeyes representative confirmed that air traffic at the airport had been disrupted. It was clarified that immediately after the resumption of the Brussels airways, the operation of Liege Airport was suspended for the same reason.
