The attacker fell asleep in the victim's apartment in Blagoveshchensk, he was discovered by the hostess who came from the night shift. This was reported on November 7 on the website of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Amur region.
"The suspect packed the things he needed in bags — a TV and a chainsaw, however, assuming that the hostess would not be at home for a long time, he decided to rest and fell asleep," the department noted.
The police detained a suspect in an attempted burglary on the morning of November 2. He turned out to be a 45-year-old local resident who had previously been prosecuted for embezzlement of property and drug trafficking, the Interior Ministry said.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 3 of art. 30 and Part 3 of art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Attempted theft committed with illegal entry into a dwelling").
The newspaper El País reported on October 31 that a painting by Pablo Picasso, which was previously considered missing during transportation to participate in an exhibition in Spain, had been with a local concierge all this time, who accidentally took it away. The woman said that she found the painting near the door and mistook it for a package.
