The Sakhalin Region is organizing the first modernization of the Ostrovnoy Fish Processing plant, which is scheduled to be completed in December this year. This was announced on November 6 by the regional government.

It is specified that the modernization of the plant will allow servicing the fleet without export abroad and to other Far Eastern regions.

"Today, the region does not depend on foreign countries for ship maintenance. Vessels of domestic production are appearing in the fishing fleet of the Sakhalin Region. The base for their repair is already working. This allows us to strengthen economic stability and food security," the press service quoted Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region, in a Telegram channel.

It is also noted that the company has expressed its readiness to become a repair base for vessels of other fishing companies in the region.

Valery Limarenko said on October 9 that Western technologies could be completely replaced by domestic ones in Sakhalin oil and gas projects. He clarified that currently there are already examples illustrating his words, one of which may be the launch of the Oil and Gas Industrial Park, where 13 residents have registered in a year.
