The US Treasury Department refused to grant Gunvor a license before the settlement in Ukraine

A business license for one of the largest independent commodity trading houses of the international energy group Gunvor Group will not be issued as long as there is a conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on November 6 by the press service of the US Treasury Department.

"The conflict must be stopped immediately. Until then <...> Gunvor, will never receive a license to operate and profit," they said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The corresponding position on the settlement, as emphasized in the same place, was clearly outlined by the American President Donald Trump. The agency, which shared his opinion, pointed out, among other things, the alleged links of the Gunvor Group with the Russian Federation.

The demand for oil in America is growing, providing decent prices — and demand for Russian oil.

On March 25, director of Gunvor Thornbjorn Tornqvist, in an interview with Bloomberg, announced his holding company's readiness to return to Russia in the event of the lifting of sanctions. It is emphasized that before their introduction, commodity traders actively interacted with the Russian Federation.
