- The US president announced an alleged reduction in India's oil purchases from the Russian Federation.
India allegedly significantly reduced the volume of purchases of Russian oil, practically ceasing to purchase it. This was announced on November 6 by the American President Donald Trump.
"They (the Indian side. — Ed.) have largely stopped buying oil from Russia," he said in response to a question from TASS reporters gathered at the White House.
Trump stressed that the talks between Washington and New Delhi are going "perfectly," and also added that in the near future he may visit India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Probably, the visit will be paid in the coming year.
On October 23, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt already announced an alleged reduction in oil purchases from Russia by Indian refineries. According to her, this decision was made by them at the request of Trump.
On October 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, answering questions from journalists during a briefing, said that oil from the Russian Federation is of strategic importance for many countries. Moscow, he explained, offers a product, and its buyers will have to make a choice about how attractive it is and how much other alternatives offered can compete with it.
