Russia has terminated the agreement with Lithuania on the promotion and mutual protection of investments. This was announced on November 6 in an official statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments, signed in Moscow on June 29, 1999, has been terminated," the document says, published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev, in a comment to Izvestia on October 30, indicated that the level of diplomatic relations with Lithuania could be lowered if Vilnius went to blockade transit to Kaliningrad. He noted that in this situation it would be inappropriate to continue diplomatic relations at the previous level, while Moscow would also take retaliatory measures.

Later it was reported that Lithuanian Railways (LTG) will stop the transit of petroleum products from Russian companies Lukoil and Rosneft to the Kaliningrad region as a result of the sanctions imposed on enterprises by the United States and Great Britain.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
