An astronaut from the Russian Federation explained the reason for the accident of the Taikonauts module in orbit.

Taikonauts who are stuck at the Tiangong space station due to the collision of the return module with space debris will be able to return to Earth, but with a delay. This was announced on November 6 by cosmonaut pilot, Hero of Russia Mikhail Kornienko in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».

He recalled that in 2023, space debris damaged the cooling system on the Soyuz spacecraft, which forced Sergei Prokopyev's crew to spend six months longer in orbit than planned. According to Kornienko, the situation with the Chinese crew is similar. He stressed that specialists are ready for such emergency situations.

"Space debris is increasing exponentially because launches are increasing. There is more garbage every year — it's not a secret. Hence the problems. When I was flying, we dodged this space debris several times.<... > And no one knows or understands how to deal with this, it's becoming dangerous: Russia is facing a problem, and now the Chinese are," said the cosmonaut.

In addition, Kornienko also noted that the problem of space debris is becoming more serious, as the number of launches increases, and with it the number of debris in orbit. Kornienko stressed that so far there are no effective solutions for cleaning the orbit of satellite debris and rocket stages that pose a danger to manned missions.

On the eve of November 5, it was reported that the return of the Chinese ship Shenzhou-20 to Earth was postponed due to a collision of the aircraft, presumably with small space debris.

China Central Television reported on April 24 that China had launched the Shenzhou-20 spacecraft with three taikonauts into space. The crew consisted of taikonauts Chen Dong (commander), Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie. The team will work in the orbital laboratory until October.
