British scientist and nutritionist Dr. Basil Brown died as a result of a dangerous experiment with carrot juice and vitamin A. This was reported on October 6 by the Daily Star newspaper.

According to investigation reports, in 10 days, the 48-year-old doctor consumed about 10 gallons (45 liters) of carrot juice combined with concentrated vitamin A supplements.

It is noted that Brown died due to hypervitaminosis — severe liver damage and organ failure. The forensic medical examination compared the condition of his liver with that of a person who chronically abused alcohol. On examination, the doctor's skin had a yellowish-orange tint due to the carotene accumulated in the body.

Earlier, on May 1, the mother of a 13-year-old schoolboy from St. Petersburg told about poisoning her son with a dietary supplement for weight loss "Molecule". She explained that his friend had given the drug to the boy, and he had been taking it for two days. According to her, her son showed increased excitability and anxiety. When the teenager's condition deteriorated sharply, the woman called an ambulance.
