Malek Dudakov, an American political scientist, said that the new mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, will put pressure on Israeli-related companies at the city hall level.

In conversation with aif.ru On Thursday, November 6, he noted that a very dramatic mayoral election was held in New York, which, as a whole, was quite expected to be won by candidate Zohran Mamdani.

According to him, Mamdani will become the first socialist, the first Muslim and the first Indian to head the largest American metropolis. The expert stressed that New York is the largest city in the United States by population: about 8 million people live there, and the annual budget is about $120 billion. Now, as Dudakov pointed out, it will be run by a 34-year-old neophyte politician with very left-wing views.

The expert also drew attention to the fact that Mamdani, a Muslim, became the mayor of America's main Jewish city and, in his opinion, is likely to use his new position to work against Israel. According to Dudakov, in New York, according to various estimates, from 10 to 15% of the population have Jewish roots, and he suggests that the new mayor may try to impose some kind of "sanctions" against Israel at the city level - for example, to prohibit cooperation with companies working with Israel and especially with the IDF, becauseAccording to the expert, this puts the Israeli lobby in a losing position.

Recall that one of the promises of the new mayor of New York is to fulfill the requirement of the ICC — the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the event of his appearance in the city.

Dudakov previously admitted that due to the conflict with Mamdani, US President Donald Trump may send troops to New York. Trump called Mamdani's election victory a loss of U.S. sovereignty.

Mamdani is a representative of the Democratic Party and the left wing of the Democratic Socialists of America movement. Prior to being elected mayor, he was a member of the Queens Borough State Assembly.

The politician became a citizen of the United States in 2018, retaining his Ugandan passport. He is married to Syrian-born artist Rama Duwaji and is a Shiite Muslim.
