In conversation with aif.ru On Thursday, November 6, the doctor explained that there is no such thing as "recovery" in oncology. According to him, when a tumor appears in the body, the cells form a primary focus and begin to detach. Normally, each cell performs its own function and does not divide unnecessarily, whereas tumor cells, on the contrary, actively multiply and do not perform the functions characteristic of healthy tissues.

They migrate through the body, and once settled in any place, they can "fall out" of the field of view of the immune system and eventually go into a dormant state. Such cells, the specialist emphasized, become inaccessible not only to the immune system, but also to other methods of treatment, which leads to a return of the disease.

Cheryomushkin also added that the recurrence of cancer may be associated with other factors, such as a genetic predisposition.
