In some regions of the country, temporary restrictions or traffic closures were introduced due to adverse weather conditions. So, in the Republic of Bashkortostan, due to heavy snow, wind and ice, traffic from 67 to 223 km of the Ufa-Inzer—Beloretsk highway was stopped for the whole of last night. Currently, traffic has resumed.
In the Kurgan region, due to wet snow and limited visibility, buses and trucks were restricted for two days until yesterday evening on the federal highway R-254 "Irtysh" from 362 km to 465 km. In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, due to a snowstorm and gusty winds, the movement of vehicles of category "B" along the Norilsk—Norilsk Airport regional highway from 5 to 22 km was restricted for several hours.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions, first familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. In case of traffic restrictions or closure of road sections due to worsening weather conditions, the relevant information is promptly posted on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service units in social networks.
The ministry warned that with the onset of the late autumn period with its unstable weather, one should be careful when driving: avoid sudden rash maneuvers and realignments on roads slippery from rain, snow or ice, observe the interval and distance between vehicles, do not exceed the set speed. Summer tires should be replaced with winter tires in a timely manner.
"Also, do not forget that in conditions of insufficient visibility, it is necessary to move with external lighting devices turned on, it is mandatory to use fog lights, if available, and during precipitation to reduce speed as much as possible and move with the alarm lights on," said the deputy head of the Department of Road Safety Promotion and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Traffic Police Russian Interior Ministry Police Colonel Anton Belan.
