Polish President Navrotsky accused Ukraine of ingratitude
Polish President Karol Nawrocki said it was necessary to build partnerships with Kiev instead of extracting unilateral benefits and accused the Ukrainian authorities of ingratitude. This was reported on November 6 by the magazine Polityka.
"The lack of gratitude towards the Polish people, the unsolved exhumation cases in Volhynia and the agricultural crisis that has engulfed Poland are issues that remain important," Navrotsky said.
According to Navrotsky, Warsaw can and should support Kiev, but it is also necessary to defend national interests. He noted the lack of gratitude from Ukraine for the assistance provided by Poland.
In addition, according to the Polish president, a number of issues remain unresolved: historical and economic. Thus, he once again stated the need to admit Ukraine's guilt in the Volyn massacre and to properly cover its events. The economic damage caused by the import of Ukrainian grain, which negatively affected Polish farmers, was also mentioned.
The publication notes that this speech by the Polish leader is one of the first decisive and balanced comments on the Ukrainian issue, reflecting a shift in rhetoric from unconditional support to partnership on equal terms.
Earlier, on November 4, it was reported about a sharp increase in the number of attacks on Ukrainians in Poland, where they currently live from 1.5 to 2 million people. It was noted that only during the period from January 1 to July 31 of this year, 543 such crimes were recorded, which was 159 incidents higher than in the same period in 2024, when 384 illegal acts were committed against refugees from Ukraine. It was clarified that 113 attacks were detected in the republic in 2022, and 103 in 2023. Then, with the onset of 2024, there was a sharp jump — 188 crimes were already committed then.
