- Scammers have become more active in using fake housing and communal services bots in Telegram
Fraudsters began to actively use Telegram bots disguised as housing and communal services after the transition of some Russian regions to a single payment document (EPD) for housing and communal services in electronic form. Experts from the cybersecurity company Angara Security told RIA Novosti about this on November 6.
"All these scenarios converge to one thing — the potential victim must click on the link and send data about his place of residence to the bot, specify the phone number and enter the "confirmation code" in the registration form," Angara Security noted.
Attackers may also try to obtain this information from a personal conversation with the alleged head of the HOA or HBC, the company said.
Experts recalled that management companies will never write in messengers to clarify the personal data of the owners and will not request information about bank accounts.
Earlier, on November 4, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia reported that inflated promises, lack of specific data and communication exclusively through messengers may indicate the fraudulent nature of the announcement. It was clarified that the lack of accurate information about the organization should also be alerted: address, INN or official details.
