The expert explained the record car sales in Russia in October

In October 2025, 165.7 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is a record result this year and the best since November last year. The reasons for the market growth were delayed demand and upcoming changes in the calculation of scrap collection, said Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, on November 6.

The compressed spring of pent-up demand accumulated over the previous months of the year has "fired". And the market went up like a rocket. The "trigger" was the new scrap collection, which comes into force on December 1. The potential of this spring should be enough for November," Tselikov wrote on his Telegram channel.

Another reason was that car prices went up. As a result, the principle that earlier purchase of a car can become more profitable has been established.

In addition, as the expert noted, deposits in banks no longer bring the same profitability as in the first half of the year. Finally, there are fewer people preparing to buy a car, who postponed the purchase in anticipation of favorable changes in the market, the analyst added.
