The Federal Security Service (FSB) has revealed the fact that the management of the Kaluga Tobacco Factory has evaded taxes in excess of 1 billion rubles. This was reported on November 6 by the FSB's Public Relations Center.

"Significant volumes of illegal cigarettes were seized, in addition, the Federal Security Service initiated a tax audit of the Kaluga Tobacco Factory, during which the fact of tax evasion in the amount of more than 1 billion rubles was confirmed," the FSB officer said.

The law enforcement officer added that the tobacco market is a major source of revenue for the state budget. According to him, unscrupulous companies systematically implement illegal schemes to reduce tax deductions, hiding the real volume of their products.

Earlier that day, the FSB, together with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stopped the illicit trafficking of tobacco products in the Kaluga region. It was noted that about 5 million packs of unmarked cigarettes, as well as at least 500 thousand counterfeit excise stamps, were seized on the territory of the enterprise and its counterparties.
