The initiative of the European Commission (EC) on a reparation loan for Ukraine has faced serious resistance from individual member states of the European Union (EU). It will be extremely difficult for Brussels to develop a formula that would suit all the members of the alliance. Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, Professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, told Izvestia on November 6.

"No one wants to take responsibility and the associated risks for the gross violation of international financial law that EC President Ursula von der Leyen wants to commit, suggesting all sorts of illegal manipulations with frozen Russian assets. Eventually, the Europeans will find some kind of financing option for Ukraine, because without their help, Kiev will face a humanitarian catastrophe in the coming months," the expert said.

He clarified that dissenters would be suppressed using administrative resources, but this, in his opinion, would only worsen the split between liberal globalists and supporters of a pragmatic multi-vector policy in Europe.

In addition, Feldman stressed that the issue of financing Ukraine undermines pan-European unity.
