The State Duma named the size of the insurance pension in 2026

By 2026, the average monthly payment of an old-age insurance pension for citizens who have stopped working will amount to over 27 thousand rubles. This was announced on November 6 by Ekaterina Stenyakina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy.

"The average amount of accrued old-age insurance pension in the Russian Federation as of July 1, 2025 for non-working pensioners was 25,826.03 rubles. Therefore, after indexing by 7.6%, its size will increase to 27 788.8 rubles," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Stenyakina clarified that an increase in payments is expected after the indexation by 7.6%, scheduled for January 1, 2026. She recalled that the insurance pension is accrued upon reaching retirement age, upon establishing disability or in case of loss of the breadwinner. The amount of this payment is determined by a fixed amount and individual coefficients, and this is the most common type of pension provision.

According to the MP, the social pension is calculated differently. Unlike insurance, it is not related to work experience and contributions paid. Citizens who, for various reasons, do not have sufficient work experience to receive an insurance pension receive a social pension.
