At least 40 people have died as a result of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strike on a funeral procession taking place near the Sudanese city of El Obeid. This was reported on November 4 by the Aficanews portal with reference to local authorities.

"At least 40 people were killed in a drone strike on a funeral gathering near El Obeid," the publication says.

It is clarified that the Rapid Reaction Forces (RBF) may be involved in the strike, which did not comment on the incident. According to the portal, the attack was carried out against the background of the escalation of hostilities in the regions of Kordofan and Darfur.

Earlier, on October 30, it was reported that in Sudan's El Fasher, the death toll after the capture of the city by rebels from the Rapid Reaction Forces (RFS) reached about 2 thousand people. The Yale University Humanities Research Laboratory has confirmed the mass killings in the city using satellite imagery and video, describing the events as potentially tantamount to ethnic cleansing.
