- The vice president of the Miss Universe pageant was suspended after insulting a participant.
The vice president of the annual Miss Universe international beauty pageant, one of the organizers, Navat Itsaragrisil, was suspended from his job after he publicly quarreled with 25-year-old Fatima Bosch, a participant from Mexico, and called her names. This was reported on November 4 by the USA Today newspaper.
"The organizers of Miss Universe are experiencing another scandal on the eve of their 74th pageant...> Nawat Itsaragrisil criticized Bosch, <... He scolded her and called her stupid," the article says.
This incident happened after Bosch tried to dissuade Itsargrisil from allegedly failing to fulfill her obligations under the competition. During the scandal, the man asked security to take the contestant out of the event, which, as noted by the president of the contest, Raul Rocha Cantu, was a broadcast of abuse of authority, since the host country of the contest should support the participants and help them.
Later, Bosch said in one of her interviews that she just wanted her voice to be heard, since she came to this contest not to dress up "like a doll", but in order to broadcast the position of all women and girls. She stressed that her position would remain unchanged.
The Miss World title was won on May 31 by a model from Thailand, Opal Suchata Chuangsri. The crown was presented to the winner by the previous finalist, Kristina Pyshkova, who represented the Czech Republic in 2024. A total of 108 people took part in the competition, and 40 of them became the best quarter—finalists.
