A resident of Berezniki, Perm Krai, has been charged with the murder of two people while setting fire to someone else's apartment building. This was announced by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia on Wednesday, November 5.

The fire occurred on November 4, 2025 on the territory of one of the farming co-ops. According to the investigation, a 38-year-old man set fire to the house of his 60-year-old acquaintance, with whom he had a conflict.

At the time of the incident, there were two people in the building, a man and a woman. Their bodies were found after extinguishing. The owner of the house was visiting a neighbor at the time of the fire, the news agency " <url>" clarifies.

"Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia have identified the alleged defendant and detained him. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for a previously convicted man," the report says.

The man was charged under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Murder of two people." The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.

In October, a 42-year-old previously convicted man suspected of setting fire to an apartment building in Novosibirsk was detained in Tomsk. Four people died in the fire.
