The Verkhovna Rada predicted the possible collapse of the Ukrainian railway
Ukraine's railway is on the verge of shutting down. This was stated on November 5 by Sergey Leshchenko, Deputy head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Railways, during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
"The Ukrainian railway may stop. <...> It is necessary to save the railway," his words are reported by the Ukrainian newspaper Strana.ua" in the Telegram channel.
According to Leshchenko, all the resources of the railway have dried up, and 49% of freight traffic has already been lost. The deputy head added that the loss over the past 9 months amounted to 7.19 billion UAH (more than 13.8 billion rubles — Ed.).
In addition, according to Leshchenko, it is necessary to take another UAH 16 billion (more than 30.9 billion rubles) from the country's budget to compensate for losses. He stressed that as part of such an initiative, it is also necessary to index freight tariffs in two stages.
In particular, for SV and first class tickets, "dynamic pricing" will be introduced, which assumes that prices will vary depending on the situation.
On November 2, Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Yaroslav Zheleznyak and head of the Anti-Corruption Council at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Yuriy Gudimenko criticized the new social initiatives of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. According to them, there is a "hole" in the country's budget, but no one has canceled the monetary compensation program.
