A group of children was removed from the fragile ice of Lake Kenon in Chita

Rescuers managed to prevent a tragedy in Chita on Kenon Lake. Several children ended up on the weak ice of the reservoir. They were saved.

According to ChitaMedia news agency, with reference to the regional department of Civil Defense and fire safety, a local resident noticed from the window that the children had gone out onto the thin ice of the lake and had moved far into the reservoir.

The incident was reported to the search and rescue service of Zabaikalpozhspas and GIMS. Rescuers promptly arrived at the scene and took all the children ashore.

Earlier, on October 31, it was reported that the XII solemn ceremony of awarding children and adolescents who showed courage in extreme situations during 2024-2025 was held in the Federation Council. During the event on October 31, the children were awarded the commemorative medal of the Federation Council "For Courage". The civic-patriotic project "Hero Children" has been fulfilling its mission for 12 years, supporting children who have committed courageous deeds. During this time, about 2 thousand children and teenagers from all over Russia have received awards.
