A farewell to the former editor-in-chief of Izvestia, Ivan Laptev, took place in Moscow.

A farewell ceremony was held at the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow for the former editor-in-chief of Izvestia, Ivan Laptev. Footage of the ceremony on November 5 is published by Izvestia.

Colleagues, relatives and friends came to say goodbye to the journalist. They saw Laptev off on his last journey with applause. The former editor-in-chief of Izvestia is being cremated.

On the same day, journalist, military expert, retired Colonel Viktor Litovkin, in a conversation with Izvestia, noted that under Laptev, the newspaper had become one of the best publications in Russia.

"Ivan Dmitrievich was an amazing editor-in-chief. Under his leadership, the newspaper began to become the best newspaper in our country. He had the largest circulation," the journalist emphasized.

Litovkin added that it was under Laptev's leadership that Izvestia published explicit materials that raised the most pressing issues.

Laptev died on November 2 at the age of 92. He began his journalistic career in 1964: he worked for the newspaper Sovetskaya Rossiya and the magazine Kommunist, and later was deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper Pravda. From 1984 to 1990, Laptev served as the editor-in-chief of Izvestia.
