The workers' wing of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has prepared a plan to preserve the German steel industry, which includes a clause on the abolition of steel and aluminum imports from Russia. This was announced on November 4 by the press service of the party.

"Two days before the steel summit, our federal chairman Dennis Radtke presents a five—point plan in the Chancellery describing what needs to be done now to preserve the steel industry in Germany," the press service said in a post on its Instagram page (the social network is banned in Russia, belongs to Meta, a company recognized as extremist and banned in Russia Russian Federation).

The first point of the plan is to eliminate the loophole in anti-Russian sanctions related to steel imports, it is also proposed to ban the import of aluminum produced in Russia, approve the package of tariffs of the European Union (EU) on cheap imports from China, support the rise in prices for industrial electricity and develop a European path to the leading markets of green steel, while introducing general restrictions on carbon emissions. passenger cars.

On October 3, the DPA news agency reported that German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil had called for an end to Russian steel supplies to the European Union (EU). Klingbeil also expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that steel slabs produced in Russia and processed at European enterprises have not yet been subject to the current sanctions.
