The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering three options for military operations that his government plans to conduct against Venezuela. This was reported on November 4 by The New York Times (NYT), citing knowledgeable sources close to the issue.

"The Trump administration has developed a number of options for military action in Venezuela, including direct attacks on military units that protect the president (of Venezuela. — Ed.) Nicolas Maduro. <...> President Trump has not yet made a decision on how to proceed," the article says.

It also clarifies that according to the first concept developed, the US Air Force (Air Force) will launch an airstrike on military installations in order to deprive Maduro of support. According to the second one, Washington will send its special forces to the territory of the South American republic, including the Delta army unit and a detachment called the Navy Seals, in order to capture the Venezuelan leader or even eliminate him. The third concept involves sending American counter-terrorism forces so that they can establish control over airfields and part of Venezuela's oil fields.

The newspaper stressed that the two most aggressive options are U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump's homeland security adviser Stephen Miller. Who, according to the interlocutors of the publication, openly stated that they believe that Maduro needs to resign.
