A rescue helicopter crashed during a typhoon relief operation in the Philippines, killing six people. This was reported on November 4 by the Brigada News portal, referring to the Philippine authorities.
"Six people were killed in the crash of a rescue helicopter in Loreto, Agusan del Sur State, during today's rescue mission," the publication said.
It is specified that the helicopter took off from Davao City and crashed after 25 minutes of flight. The aircraft was supposed to deliver humanitarian aid and provide disaster relief support.
Investigators intend to carry out checks and establish the exact cause of the crash. According to the portal, government agencies will provide the families of those killed in the crash with all necessary assistance.
On the same day, the Reuters news agency reported that at least 40 people died as a result of typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines. It was clarified that despite the fact that the typhoon's strength weakened after landfall, it continued to hit the country with winds of 130 km/h and gusts up to 180 km/h.
