The US Treasury has decided to lift sanctions against Belavia Airlines
The Belarusian state-owned airline Belavia, which has its headquarters in Minsk, has been removed from the US Treasury Department's sanctions list. This was confirmed on November 4 by documents published on the website of the Office for Control of Foreign Assets of this department (OFAC).
"OFAC issues the General License of Belarus No. 12 "Permission to conduct operations related to certain blocked aircraft". <...> The following exceptions were added to the list: Open Joint Stock Company Belavia Belarusian Airlines," the text says.
It also clarifies that aircraft models EW-301PJ and CRJ-200ER, aircraft with aircraft manufacturer serial numbers (MSN) 8057; EW-301PJ (aircraft) [BELARUS-EO14038] are no longer subject to sanctions. In addition, a general license is also attached to the publication, allowing the use and maintenance of flights of three aircraft used by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
On October 29, the US Treasury lifted sanctions against the President of Republika Srpska (RS, an entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik and his children Igor and Gorica. Later, he thanked American President Donald Trump for this gesture, which, in his words, corrected a "serious injustice."
