The promising Sarmat intercontinental missile will be put on combat duty next year. This was announced on November 4 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"This year we will put systems with the Sarmat heavy intercontinental missile on experimental combat duty, and next year we will put them on combat duty," the Russian president said.

According to Putin, intercontinental ballistic missiles and submarine-launched missiles are equipped with modern anti-missile defense (ABM) systems.

Russian Deputy Security Council Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on October 29 that the Poseidon underwater vehicle could be considered a real Doomsday weapon. He also ironically congratulated "all the friends of Russia" on the underwater vehicle test.
