The procedure for unfreezing assets of Russian investors in the depositories of the European Union (EU) has been changed: now it does not require permission from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). This was reported to RIA Novosti on November 4 by a financial source in Brussels.

"This information is correct," he said.

On November 1, RBC Investments reported that the Belgian depository Euroclear had begun unblocking the assets of Russians without the need to obtain an American OFAC license. It was clarified that now only a Belgian license is enough to unlock assets.
