The monument to Tsar Ivan the Terrible was unveiled on the Kremlin Square in Vologda. This was announced on November 4 by the Governor of the Vologda Region, Georgy Filimonov, in his Telegram channel.

"Today we have restored historical justice by unveiling a monument to Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich the Terrible. It was under his leadership that the large—scale construction of a stone fortress began in Vologda, which was supposed to surpass the Moscow Kremlin," the governor wrote.

The monument is installed near the three-storey building of the Vologda Kremlin, not far from the Resurrection Cathedral. According to Filimonov, the monument has become "a new semantic marker of the city, connecting our great past and the future." The opening ceremony of the renovated Kremlin Square was attended by 5.5 thousand people. In addition, a festive concert was held as part of the event.

Vologda Mayor Sergey Zhestyannikov also noted the significance of the event for the townspeople.

"It is really very significant for Vologda residents. And this place, and St. Sophia Cathedral, and the Vologda Kremlin, and this square. Of course, this is one of the main places where we come with our children, where tourists come," he stressed in an interview with Izvestia.

Earlier, on October 6, a sculpture composition "Russian Journalists" dedicated to the profession of media representatives opened at the TASS building on Tverskaya Boulevard in Moscow. The composition features three figures, including a reporter with a microphone, a photojournalist and a videographer.
