The suspension of the US government risks disrupting Americans' travel on Thanksgiving Day, and hundreds of flights may be delayed. This was reported on November 3 by the Axios portal.

"The U.S. Tourism Association and about 500 travel organizations and companies are warning of a possible downturn in tourism on Thanksgiving Day if the government shutdown drags on," the article says.

According to the portal, the weeks before Thanksgiving are already among the busiest of the year due to American travel. Flight delays can make this period even more chaotic.

In a letter to congressional leaders, travel organizations said the ongoing shutdown could "reduce demand and cost the U.S. tourism economy billions of dollars," damaging businesses across the country. They urge lawmakers to resume government work before Thanksgiving.

On the same day, Bloomberg, citing U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, reported that the United States could close its airspace in the event of a flight safety threat due to the ongoing shutdown. Duffy clarified that the situation is not critical at the moment, but the suspension of federal agencies is already creating additional risks to the stability of the country's aviation system.

The shutdown was introduced in the United States on October 1 due to the fact that the draft budget was not agreed upon by the senators. The Washington Post reported on October 10 that the administration of US President Donald Trump has already begun firing federal employees representing trade, finance, health and human services, education and homeland security.
