The head of the national energy company Ukrenergo, Vitaly Zaichenko, urged residents of Ukraine to dress warmly at home and not raise the temperature of their homes to comfortable values. He stated this on November 4 on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel ICTV.

"It is necessary not to bring the temperature in the rooms to the most comfortable 20-22 degrees, but to put on an extra sweater and thereby help our energy system cope with the challenges we are working with," Zaichenko said.

He also stressed that domestic consumers need to "change their behavior."

On October 25, former Minister of Energy of Ukraine Olga Buslavets said that the upcoming heating season would be extremely difficult for the country, and the winter would be the most difficult of all previous ones. According to her, the situation in Kiev, Sumy and Chernihiv regions is very difficult.

The deputy editor of the German newspaper Bild, Paul Ronzheimer, in turn, said on November 1 that the Ukrainian authorities were inactive in solving problems with energy supply, which is why residents of the country are afraid of freezing in winter. According to him, power outages in Kiev and other cities are happening more often, and the population is tired of uncertainty and lack of reaction from the authorities.

Later, on November 4, the former head of Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudritsky, noted that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, was afraid of a negative reaction from the country's population to power outages next winter. In his opinion, the country's energy problems with the onset of cold weather will be aggravated by the government's inability to promptly implement the plan that he presented to Zelensky three years ago.
