The Russian Embassy in Rome has protested to the Italian Foreign Ministry in connection with the anti-Russian policy in the media, the pretext for which was a statement by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova. This was announced on November 4 by the press service of the diplomatic mission.

"The Russian side expressed serious dissatisfaction with the aggressive and reprehensible anti-Russian information campaign conducted by Rome. The campaign was motivated by legitimate concerns... Zakharova's statement regarding the reduction of funding for Italy's cultural and historical heritage," reads a statement posted on the official page of the Russian embassy on the Facebook social network (owned by Meta, its activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

It is clarified that the reduction in funding was caused by the support of the Italian government of Ukraine. Russia also expressed its condolences to Italy over the death of a Romanian worker after the collapse of a tower in the center of Rome.

In the center of Rome, at the Imperial Forums, the central squares of the ancient city, on November 3, a partial collapse of the historic Torre dei Conti tower occurred, which was under reconstruction. On the same day, it was reported that a worker was pulled out from under the rubble of the collapsed tower. However, it later became known that he died in the hospital.

Zakharova commented on the collapse of a tower in the center of Rome, pointing to the senseless waste of the Italian government's money to help Kiev. She recalled that the amount of assistance to Ukraine from Italy amounted to €2.5 billion, of which €1 billion is the support of Ukrainian refugees.
