A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Zapad group of troops improved the tactical situation and defeated Ukrainian armed formations in the areas of the settlements of Petropavlovsk, Kurilovka, Boguslavka, Novoplatonovka, Druzhladovka, Borovskaya Andreevka, Kharkiv region, Novoselovka, Stavki and Yarovaya of the DPR. In the Kupyansk area, units of the sixth army continue to tighten the encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) group. The Russian military also thwarted another attempt by the National Guard to counterattack in the Petrovka area, and continue to tighten the encirclement of the enemy group from the northeast in the Petropavlovsk area.

In addition, the units of the Center group of forces have improved their position along the front line. In Krasnoarmeysk in the DPR, assault groups continued to destroy the encircled formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Four buildings have been vacated in the residential development of the Prigorodny microdistrict, and 31 buildings in the private sector in the eastern part of the Central District.

"The cleansing of the settlements of Gnatovka and Rog of the Donetsk People's Republic from Ukrainian militants continues, 24 buildings have been liberated. 10 enemy attacks were repelled in the northern and north-western directions from the settlement of Krasnoarmeysk, Donetsk People's Republic, in order to break out of the encirclement. Three attempts to unblock the encircled AFU group by forces of foreign mercenaries from the Grishino settlement area of the Donetsk People's Republic were stopped. The enemy lost more than 30 fighters," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated energy and transport infrastructure facilities that support the work of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, an artillery shell production workshop, a fuel depot, as well as temporary locations of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 152 districts.

In turn, air defense systems shot down three guided aerial bombs, a US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launcher and 204 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 94,936 UAVs, 635 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,837 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,609 multiple rocket launchers, 31,065 field artillery and mortars, and 45,800 special vehicles.
