An American family sued Tesla over the death of a married couple
Four children from the American Bauer family sued the American electric car manufacturer Tesla over the death of their parents in an accident, as a result of which they could not get out of the car because of the jammed doors. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on November 4.
It is specified that 54-year-old Jeffrey Bauer and 55-year-old Michelle Bauer were sitting in the passenger seats when their Model S electric car left the road, crashed into a tree and caught fire. The incident occurred on November 1, 2024 in Verona, Wisconsin.
According to the complaint, the couple's fate was sealed because the lithium-ion battery of the Model S caused the electronic door systems to fail.
At the same time, the Bauer children said that Tesla knew that this could happen based on earlier fires, but made a "conscious departure from known, possible safety methods."
A man and two children died on September 8 as a result of a Tesla car fire when they were trapped inside a vehicle in western Germany. It was clarified that the Tesla electric car left the road after trying to overtake another vehicle, which caused the car to crash into a tree and catch fire.
